Biography:

Dale Barbour is interested in 20th century recreation areas and their role as spaces for courtship and sexual play. Toronto’s waterfront offers an opportunity to see how people, governments and businesses have fought to control both the meaning and the purpose of the Lake Ontario shoreline. Dale’s first book, Winnipeg Beach: Leisure and Courtship in a Resort Town, 1900-1967, has recently been released through the University of Manitoba Press.
