Description

French History Seminar

The Toronto-area French History seminar brings together scholars and graduate students working on the history of France and the francophone world in universities across southern Ontario and northern New York, as well as invited scholars from around the world, for a monthly lecture series. Founded in 1998 by historians at York University and the University of Toronto, the seminar’s lecture series has proven a stimulating and collegial forum for scholarly discussion and the elaboration of cutting-edge research.

The seminar’s organizers have from its inception been strongly committed to situating graduate study at the heart of the group’s activities, by cultivating a welcoming environment for students, encouraging them to become active participants, and insuring that advanced doctoral candidates have an opportunity each year to present their work.
