Nicholas McGee is a doctoral candidate in the Department of History who specializes in Late Imperial and Modern China, with academic interests in broader histories of imperialism and migration in the Asia-Pacific region. His dissertation research focuses on conflict and collaboration between the British and Qing empires in governing the mobilities and sovereignties of Chinese migrants from the early-nineteenth to early-twentieth centuries.
