Safia Aidid is an interdisciplinary historian of modern Africa. Her research addresses anticolonial nationalism, territorial imaginations, borders, and state formation in the Horn of Africa, with a particular focus on modern Somalia and Ethiopia. She will complete her PhD in History at Harvard University in fall 2019 and joins the Department of History at UofT as an Arts & Science Postdoctoral Fellow.
