Biography
Hongyun's interests are primarily in technology, media, and the environment in twentieth-century China. He is working on the history of rural electrification in the People’s Republic of China. This project examines the interplay between technology and the environment and how people experienced technological changes in socialist and postsocialist China based on archives, oral history, and visual media. He is also working on the history of the UNESCO Global Geopark in modern China.
