Description
Dr. Samar Al-Bulushi will explore the entanglement of militarism, imperialism, and liberal-democratic governance in Kenya, offering a view from East Africa on post-9/11 imperial warfare. Drawing on ethnographic research in Nairobi and Mombasa, the talk examines how Kenyan Muslim activists navigate the dangers posed by U.S.-trained Kenyan police and the broader surveillance state.
