Description

The Centre for the Study of the United States and the Northrop Frye Centre invite you to a lecture by Chris Aino Pihlak, historian and CSUS-NFC Fellow.

Join us for a discussion on the history of trans lesbian feminism in the American Second Wave. Based on Pihlak’s forthcoming Gender & History article, this talk reconstructs the overlooked archive of femme-for-femme trans femmes who organized under the identity of the "male lesbian" in the 1970s. Through the work of Sally Douglas and the Salmacis Society, this movement challenges dominant narratives about the supposed divide between trans and lesbian feminism.

This event is presented by the Centre for the Study of the United States and the Northrop Frye Centre. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with groundbreaking research on trans feminist history!
