Description

The University of St Michael's College, in collaboration with the Ricci Institute for Chinese-Western Cultural History (Boston College), the John M. Kelly Library, the Thomas Fischer Library, the Department of East Asian Studies, and the Toronto Jesuit History Research Group present: an exploration of how Jesuit missionaries, led by Matteo Ricci, facilitated significant cross-cultural exchange between Christian Europe and Imperial China during the Ming and Qing dynasties through religious, cultural, and scientific dialogues. The annual Langan Lecture will be followed by a reception as well as a manuscript and rare book exhibit hosted at the Kelly Library.
