Description

We are delighted to invite you to an event co-hosted by the Anne Tanenbaum Centre for Jewish Studies, Centre for Europe and Eurasian Studies, and the Department of History.

We will examine the numerous petitions sent by the residents of Lithuania and Ukraine, deported in 1940-41 and 1944-1952 to Siberia and Central Asia, in which they demand their release or rehabilitation.

These petitions are an invaluable source for understanding the relationships between the populations, victims of Stalinist violence, and the authorities. They provide a firsthand perspective on the diversity of biographies as well as the agency of those who endured these violences.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP by filling out this form by March 12, 2025 https://forms.office.com/r/uftr28QbQE
