The History Department is pleased to share the news that Powering Up Canada: A History of Power, Fuel, and Energy from 1600 (McGill-Queen’s University Press) won the 2017 Canadian Studies Network Award for Best Edited Book of Articles from the Canadian Studies Network.
Professor Laurel MacDowell contributed a chapter titled, “Nuclear Power.”
The volume itself was edited by Professor Ruth Sandwell, who is cross-appointed with the Department of History.
The prize is awarded annually for an outstanding scholarly, edited collection of articles on a Canadian subject that best advances our knowledge and understanding of Canada and Canadian Studies, recognizing that important work in the interdisciplinary field of Canadian Studies often appears in the form of edited collections.
