The Department of History lost a good friend last month with the passing of Philip Creighton (1929–2018). Together with several historians, donors, and friends, Philip was one of the founders of the Donald Creighton Lectures, an annual lecture series to honour his father, a distinguished Canadian historian and longtime member of the Department of History. Philip and his wife Phyllis have been faithful attendees at the annual lectures and dinners, which have become one of the landmark events in our annual calendar for faculty and graduate students alike. His presence and his lively interest in all things historical will be sadly missed. The Department extends its deepest sympathies to Phyllis and the Creighton family.
