Professor Li Chen (Department of History) and Professor Ruoyun Bai (Media Studies, UTSC) recently shared a meal with a reporter from Toronto Life at Anne’s Magic Kitchen, a northern Chinese restaurant with Szechuan influences. Throughout their meal, Professor Chen shared memories and talked about the regional influences in Chinese cuisine. They also discussed the growth of excellent Chinese restaurants in Toronto and surrounding areas that respond to an influx of immigrants. After all, it was a meal at a Chinese Restaurant in Toronto that “sealed the deal” in Professor Chen accepting his positon in the Department of History at U of T.
